Born in 1944 in LORRAINE
( French, despite 3 successive annexations ...), under bombing and
german occupation, I spent my first days and weeks in the black hole of
a railway tunnel. Don't tell me I wasn't in the War ! The first language
I spoke was German and I heard my first French words when I was 6 !
As a sort of revenge, I was able to spend 18 months in Germany (1966/67)
in the French Army with a few Fraüleins !!!
I arrived in England, at NEWCASTLE, on the 17th of July 1963, just
when the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals etc ... were famous ; what
a marvellous period !
I met Viviane
( click to see her...),with the firm intention of kidnapping
her ; which I did 5 years later ! ( Wedding in South-Shields on the
10.08.68 ; Honeymoon - and Haggis(read all about it...)- in Scotland .
We lived and taught in THIONVILLE ( Lorraine ) fort 25 years, before
emigrating to PROVENCE.
To replace cards and letters, we publish a GAZETTE every year
at Christmas : " The LOESEL GAZETTE "
( an English édition and a French édition ) for all members
of the family, and all our friends throughout the world. Languages : Important subject,
because, in our house, we speak French and English ; When I'm with my family,
we speak German. So, in my head, there is very complicated switch, which
changes the language, and the culture and the way of life ... ( it's better
than an electronic translater!).
I like : -Sailing and Boats : we cruised for
10 years, from the north of England as far as Africa.
- Music : I play the guitar ( I've
been playing a bit every day for 40 years). At the moment, my instruments
are : Gibson Emperor, Fender Stratocaster, Takamine electro-acoustic, and
Fender and Marshall amplifiers. My heroes : Mark Knopfler, The Shadows
( yes, it's old fashioned, but what a sound ! ), Cliff Richard, Trini Lopez
... I like jazz, classical music and all kinds of music (except
Philip's ...) which sounds more like scrap iron being unloaded !
-Electronics : mending and making
things, Radio-Amateur activities,
satellites, meteo.
-Computing: PAO, radio applications
and ... Internet !
I'm looking forward to my retirement in summer 1999, to have
more time for all my hobbies.
